GRAMMY NOMINATED TANGERINE DREAM HAS NEW ALBUM Seattle -- MIRAMAR Recordings is pleased to announce the immediate release of Tangerine Dream's innovative new album, ROCKOON. ROCKOON marks the launch of MIRAMAR'S multi-record deal with Tangerine Dream. After more than 50 albums including numerous movie soundtracks, (Risky Business, Thief, The Sorceror etc.) Tangerine Dream is taking a new direction with this album. Noted for a prolific string of layered synthesizer recordings, ROCKOON marks the bands foray into a decidedly rock-tinged groove. Having just been nominated for their first Grammy Award, (in the New Age Category) Tangerine Dream's next nomination may be in the "Rock Instrumental" category. ROCKOON is brimming with a powerful rock energy, yet it still contains vintage Tangerine Dream. Founding member Edgar Froese is joined on ROCKOON by his son Jerome who contributes songwriting talents as well as his compelling guitar and keyboard textures. The strength of the initial MIRAMAR/Tangerine Dream project fostered a lucrative partnership. "The overwhelming success of the first MIRAMAR/Tangerine Dream collaboration entitled Canyon Dreams was a major motivating factor in their signing with us," claims Kipp Kilpatrick, Director of Marketing at MIRAMAR. "The Video-Album Canyon Dreams is well on its way to Double Platinum, while the record release was their first Grammy Nomination and it is still in the top 10 of the Billboard charts." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Back to me again... Just thought you folks might be interested in how TD is currently being marketed. Personally, I don't think much of the new "rock-tinged groove" of this album and I like all of the previous styles. I even enjoy DESTINATION BERLIN. While ROCKOON still has a TD flavor, it seems more like a generic rock version of Muzak to me. Oh well, I'll give it time, I've changed my mind before after repeated listenings.
